THE ROBINSON FAMILY REUNION 2007

"THE FIRST GENERATION"

The Birth of Sammy Robinson
The first generation begins with the birth of Sammy Robinson in Bigbee Valley (Noxubee County), Mississippi. There are no written records available on the date and year of his birth. However, Sammy's birth year is estimated to be between 1840 and 1845.

During those times, black females started having children between 15 and 18 years of age. This will estimate Sammy's mother's birth year to be between 1824 and 1829.

Sammy's grandmother was a slave brought over from England. It has been told that Sammy's grandmother would often tell him how she wept bitter tears while on the slave ship. She would tell him how the masters would threaten to throw her overboard if she continued to cry.

Based on history during slavery time, a black female's age at capture in Africa bound for the West Indies or America was between 12 to 17 years of age. We estimate that she gave birth to Sammy's mother between the ages of 17 to 20 years old.

This will estimate Sammy's grandmother's birth year to be between 1705 and 1709. Our estimates indicate that she was brought to American between 1719 and 1725.
